How do we want to use this community space?

A few of us have been "warming up" the space in anticipation of others arriving. We started a few conversations as well as groups for people who will be attending programs in Victoria and Halifax.

Please share your thoughts about how this site could be shaped, added to, and cultivated as we go. What would you like to see here?

I think that Twitter can be a great complement to ALIA activities, enabling further glue among people, events, and useful information.

Suggestion #1: promote use of the #ALIA hashtag in Twitter posts about ALIA-relevant stuff

Suggestion #2: include the Twitter Track application on the community.aliainstitute home page, as further life/activity indicator. I have this app running on my home page here (it seems a couple of other participants have put this up as well). I have Twitter Track search for all tweets containing the #ALIA hashtag.

A comment on a forums and blogs. Every user can create a weblog, and post entries to it. This seems appropriate for stuff you find interesting, useful insights, etc, which may be worth sharing. Ie, my interesting stuff.

Forums are oriented around topics, not around people: all the stuff relating to the topic.

Encouraging personal blogging here would I think enrich the space.

PS It seems blog posts are not included in the home page feed. That's something to consider: how to make blogs more visible without overwhelming the home page.

Hi Mark,
I added blogs to the menu options, and it looks like that automatically makes blog posts included in the home page feed. It looks like there are people using the blogs already, so I think it's good to feature it in this way.

Mark, when I have 6 or 7 blogs on various networks, creating a new one wouldn't support my intent to focus and simplify. Yet, I want to share some of my blog entries that can be relevant to some people in this community. What would be the most effortless way to do that?

Hi George. In general the answer to your question is Transclusion (showing part of one document inside another). However, this is not commonly supported on the net in a high-level way.

One way would be to have an RSS feed on your profile page here which would pull items from one of your existing blogs, but only pull in items that were in a certain category ("alia", for example) (or certain keyword, tag, whatever). That way you could choose which of your blog items to mark for being shared with the Alia community through this Ning site. I'll check it out.

I yearn for a support group learned, creative and full of thought. I am baffeled with what I have witnessed the past two years in a public school setting. I am disappointed that though they are trained in the Covery principles none of it involves the principles of Systems Thinking. There NO dialogue there is NO sense of community, KULA, there is no teaming. It is top down hierarchical and when I was informed I was riffed one week ago, I had no idea. I was told to sign on the dotted line next to my name. I knew not what I was signing...I giggled asking what am I signing up for? With an aggressive voice the principle said, SIGN now next to your name." With that was handed a letter. My intention is not to whine it is all that I've been taught via Meg, Peter, the world cafes, the one's I've facilitated all of it is not experienced. Am I in the wrong state, the wrote venue? I can ill afford much...I live very frugally and pay as I go.
I would relish being part of Halifax again, staying at King's College and sharing the hall way bathe wtih many kindred souls. It was a time that touched my heart for lyfe and my heart loves' being touched.

We could co-create a “culture” of “oneness”, in production of on-line broadcasting, facilitating the acceleration of human consciousness in harmony with 1000 years of peace. This site can assist in the creation of an on-line “buzz” that draws 50+ million loyal co-creators by 12/20/2012.
