I am reviewing my notes from this year's summer institute, and I have a question about Cheryl Rose's presentation on Leadership for Resilience.
I loved the figure-8 diagram and the progression from Creative Destruction through Reorganization and Exploration, into Exploitation and finally Conservation before heading back into Creative Destruction.
I noted that the Y-axis (vertical) is low-to-high potential. I think I understand that one.

I also noted that the X-axis (horizontal) is low-to-high connectedness. This one I don't get at all.
Can anyone help? What does "connectedness" refer to in the example, for instance, of a forest? Of a startup company? How can moving from creative destruction to reorganization & exploitation denote a move from high connectedness to low?
