As many of you are aware, Laura Simms held a storytelling workshop during the weekend prior to the Summer Institute. I took notes, which I have attached to this thread.Shortly after the Institute, I had my first experience of the transformative power of story. I was in Israel, and found myself in an emotionally charged conversation about the kidnapping of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Please share something about yourself, your work, and what draws you to the ALIA community.
I am a Master's Student at The Earth Institute, Columbia University, studying Sustainability Management. I am interested in the application of mindfulness-based management to education and public health programs, especially in resource-poor communities.

I recently spent three months working in Ghana with the Millennium
Villages Project. I have previously worked on education and community development projects in India and Costa Rica, and as a leadership development facilitator for low-income students in Philadelphia.
