"All knowledge is for action, and all action is for friendship."

I was looking through my notes from ALiA West last May and came across this line that I had scribbled down:
"All knowledge is for action, and all action is for friendship."
Is there anyone out there who can tell me where this line comes from!?

Thanks Sue. Now that I reread my notes I see a reference to a badly spelled mcmurry! And i remember Bill quoting him. Mystery solved.

This quote is from John Macmurray (1891-1976), the Quaker and moral philosopher, and who was oft quoted by Reg Revans (the father of Action Learning) and Mike Pedler in the UK.

Oh I should have guessed! Thanks Mary. (And thanks Bill.)
I wonder why this one-liner is ringing in my ears these days...

Sounds like Torbert to me! In the June faculty retreat and in our later Action Inquiry module, this became a lengthy conversation and a re-frame of "wealth" to "well'th".
Hope you are well Aftab,
Love Mary
